Diary 1

In order to remix all the tracks, my first step was to know the structure of the piece first as there are so many tracks and its was so easy to get confused. After listening to the master version, I found that the structure of the piece includes a short introduction, Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3.

Then, to avoid the mix-up of all the tracks as well as to make myself clear about what I was doing, I decided to add sound effect in sections. I firstly did Intro, and then Section 1 and then so on. It was actually quite difficult to find out what which tracks played in intro and which tracks played in other sections. To deal with that, I used the function of play solo and the function of muting the track.

Here are all the sound effect that I added for remixing.

Some other instruments have also been used, such as Soprano Sax, Tuba Staccato and Modern Guitar. Various loops have also been used (see Pic 1).

Then, I felt the structure was rather simple, so I added some parts to make the structure more interesting. I used the first a couple of bars, the bride and adding various new elements to make another bridge. Then used the main elements of Section A2 and did some alterations to make a new section, the how structure shorn in Pic 2.

To make the song more interesting and more than a simple instrumental piece, I also added short piece voice and cut it into pieces and place them in to different place of this piece. Different sound design have also been used to these voice pieces so that the piece can be more interesting.

Two Trombone Section Legato have also been used. As I used three French Horn in Staccato, in order to do a contrast, I used two trombones in Legato.

To keep the piece more consistent, same instruments are used but with different adjustment. There are two Chorused electrical piano use but with different adjustment (Pic 1)

For the Bridge, it is actually a development of the Introduction (Pic 1 and 2). It still used the pitch C as the melody, but played with different rhythms and syncopation is used. The melody is also played with different instruments and using different sounding effects, and with different accompaniment. The accompaniment is used some elements of Section A . This is because I want the piece sounds more consistent but not very random.

The last section is Section A2 and it is a sort of variation of Section A1 as its used the same elements as Section A1 but those elements are in different rhythms, sounding effects and played by different instruments (Pic 5 and 6). This section also consists two parts, which arranged the same melody with different instruments and sounding effects (Pic 3 and 4)

For this piece, I used the structure which includes an introduction, Section A, Bridge and Section A2.

For the introduction, it’s actually a quite long introduction. It is constructed of the pitch Do an octave-higher Do. (Pic 1), The introduction includes two parts as well. Part one is just some melody but part two is actually a development of part 1. For making part more interesting, not only more instruments and effects are added, but also the melody played in turn between two chorused electric piano, which have different sound effects. (Pic 2 and 3)

For the Section A1, it is constructed of pitch G and C and their octaves. This section includes two parts as well. One is just the simple melody composed of the the notes G and C with various sounds effects and instruments (Pic 4 and 5). The melody of Part B is developed from the melody of Part A, Which used different rhythms and also played by different instruments with different effects. ( Pic 6 and 7)

Diary 6

However, as some of the track had not been adding any effects, it made the piece overall sound very dry. Thus, I some affects were further added and modified.

Diary 5

Section B2 is my favorite part of the piece. For this section I still used the motives as the melody, which also repeated four times. However, this part has used the whole motive as melody however only half motive has been used in the previous part.

In Section B2, although the motive repeats four times, each time sounds differently. For the first time, four male tracks play the same motive together are applied with different affects. Then, for the second time, three male tracks play together. Then two male tracks play together for the third time and on male track play for the final one.

This is how each male track being applied with the affects:
